Day 46

on

I’m heading off to Wagga shortly so that I make it to Collingullie in time to see Will play footy. Todays game is round 11 of the RFL competition and this will only be the 3rd game I have seen this year.

The Gullie ground has car parking beside the oval, so hopefully, apart from visiting the canteen for a pie, I can stay in the warmth of my car to watch the game. Wagga Tigers are undefeated in both First and Second senior sides, so hopefully I will be there to see them win again.

Dave is already starting to feel crappy after this treatment, which I guess is what we expected. I think it seems to have a creep of one day each treatment. This one has started on day 3. He only stayed a work for a few hours today and then came home and rested on the lounge, and slept a little too. I gave him an arm, shoulder and neck massage with some lovely lavender massage oil I bought. I didn’t massage his head – for fear of dislodging the few hairs that are left. Fear of his head getting cold – not fear of aesthetics!

Dave has taken to wearing the obligatory beanie.

Not a nice trendy dark coloured fine knit one like I suggested… but a mid-green, old tatty version.  He says its warm. I say its ugly. It’s his head, so he wins!

The beanie has sentimental value, having been knitted for him in 1972 by an old Rhodesian lady called Mrs Brooks. If you know Dave, you will know that he does like to keep things of sentimental value, and this is definitely one of those things. It has, no doubt, seen some things and would have some stories to tell. It’s a pity beanies cant talk. Or maybe its good that they cant!

Last nights dinner of Osso Bucco (recipe on yesterday’s blog) was a hit, and there is enough for Dave to have for dinner again tonight.

My job for tomorrow is to get ready for Mondays ABC Radio segment. I’m thinking potatoes. Maybe I will talk about the varieties and the uses and perhaps make some mash (restaurant style) and some colcannon. That will give me something to think about on the boring drive back to Wagga 🙂

I had better get going!
