Day 72

on

This is probably one of my shortest posts yet!

I might not have blogged today but for an interesting fact that I wanted to share.

I have an app on my iPhone that counts down the days till an upcoming event. This morning I opened up the app and discovered that there were 72 days until Dave and I leave on our holiday.

Today is 72 days since chemo began.

Even though it has been quite an ordeal it seems now that the past 72 days have gone quite quickly. Let’s hope the next 72 go as fast ?✈️

Dave is at work today but I am expecting he will start to go down hill tomorrow. I am so glad, and so is he, that this is the last time this should happen.

15 radiotherapy sessions now to do and we can put this all behind us.

Dave quoted the cancer statistics to me a few days ago. Apparently 1 in 4 Australians will have cancer at some point in their lives.

He said “I’m glad I got cancer… It means that I was the 1 in 4 for our family which means you and the kids won’t have to”.

Victoria got quite a few high distinctions in statistics at university and she will no doubt tell me that its is not how stats work. But Dave’s statement does sum up his attitude to his illness and to his family. How lucky are we to have such a loving husband and father ?

As I said, a quick post. It’s now 11pm so time for bed. I am in Sydney and need to be at the airport at 7am.

Goodnight 🙂
