I love lists

‘He’s making a list and checking it twice’
It’s the Christmas song that sticks in my head the most… not because of the ‘naughty and nice’ bit, but because without a list at Christmas I’d be lost!
I am a list lover. For those of you who work with me you will probably know that Outlook ‘tasks’ keep my days on track. Lists are the thing that keep my life in order ?.
Usually my lists contain all activities or jobs I need to do. Sometimes they might be lists of things to pack, or perhaps a list of things to buy. Sometimes they are in outlook, other times they are handwritten, occasionally  they are typed into my phones ‘notes’ app.
Lists are just so damn efficient! I have always (since a child) wanted to get things done as efficiently as possible.
Today’s blog is a list of things we did and/or learnt today.
Today’s list
  1. You don’t always make a profit at a casino. But it’s still fun to get dressed up and play blackjack anyway.
  2. Life goes by quickly. Before you know it your kids have turned 25 and 22. Happy Birthdays Victoria (yesterday) and Will (today) Dad and I are very proud of you both and love you very much.  ??
  3. Cadbury have a factory and shop in Dunedin.  $3 for 3 bars. Too good to resist!

4. Trendy breakfast spots with trendy menus, don’t necessarily have nice breakfasts. Nigella seeds and bean sprouts in scrambled eggs were not a hit with Dave. (But the old books on the table and the English Breakfast tea in proper cups were!)

5. Fish and chips is a NZ staple. A side street ‘chipper’ in Invercargill, eating F&C on small wooden tables just out of the rain might not sound fantastic… but it was. Hand cut chips made it extra good!IMG_3408

6. Holidays are for favourite things and I managed two of them today… a wonderful spa bath looking over the gorgeous garden in the B&B, and watching the end of the boxing day test over a quiet vodka, lime and soda.

7.  Serving venison seems to be very common in NZ restaurants. Tonight’s version was a tender rump, cooked rare, with roasted beetroot; celeriac puree and crisps; cherry relish and spinach. It was very, very good. I highly recommend Louie’s Tapas Bar in Dee St, Invercargill. The ‘Tropicana’ cocktail was equally delicious! I started with local mussels in a spicy coconut and coriander broth. Dave enjoyed his scotch fillet, and we then shared dessert of coconut pannacotta, mango, pomegranate and sesame praline!

8. As usual our holidays include a trip to the grocery shop. Very similar to Australia, but more dairy choices!  A 2 litre Chocolate Milk was $5, so similar prices to Aus.

Goodnight all, my list for tomorrow is long, so its time for bed 🙂
